This file contains some useful information about installing Sketch! 2.0.
When you first start the installer, you may get a message saying that there is not enough disk space to install Sketch!. This is for the Easy Install option, which tries to install absolutely everything. If you get this message, click on the pop-up menu that says "Easy Install", and drag down to "Custom Install". Now you can choose which parts of the program you want to install, and see how big each part is. (Click on the "I" icon to the right to see what each part contains.)
In 1994 Apple introduced a new line of computers called the "Power Macintosh". These computers are different from other Macintoshes, because they use a different and much faster computer chip.
Your Sketch! 2.0 installation disks actually contain 3 different versions of Sketch!. One version will only run on Power Macintoshes, the second will only run on regular Macintoshes, and the third will run on both. However, the version that runs both is much larger than either of the other two. (For this reason, it is called a "fat" version.)
The Sketch! 2.0 installer automatically detects what kind of machine you have. If you are installing on a Power Macintosh, it lets you choose between the Power Macintosh version and the "fat" version. If you are installing on a regular Macintosh, it lets you choose between the regular (680x0) version and the "fat" version. We recommend that you do not install the "fat" version unless you will be keeping sketch on a disk that is shared by both regular and Power Macintoshes. The other versions will take up much less room.
When you doing a Custom Install, the installer bases its size estimates on the "fat" versions. If you choose not to install the "fat" versions, the completed size of your installation will be several megabytes smaller than the installer predicted.
